Lifeline In Jeopardy: Funding for DV Survivors Not Renewed Yet

A lifeline for domestic violence victims is in jeopardy. On Capitol Hill today, senators debated whether or not to renew funding for the Violence Against Women Act.

The landmark federal legislation, pioneered in the mid 90s by

then-Senator Joe Biden holds offenders accountable and provides services for victims of violence, even an opportunity to break the cycle.

NBC5’s Laura Cavanaugh introduces us to one survivor who did just that. She has asked that we keep her identity concealed for her family’s safety.
