Man with Slit Throat Recovering at Hospital

Police have identified 30-year-old Brandon Anthony Borba as the suspect who allegedly slashed a man’s throat Saturday evening. He’s behind bars at the Jackson County Jail charged with Assault in both the first and second degree, both of which are Measure 11 crimes. He’s on two-million-dollars bail.

Authorities said the call came in around 6:30 Saturday night. They responded to a reported stabbing in the area near South Columbus and Prune Streets in West Medford.

Police said they found the victim with an 11cm cut across the front of his throat that was about three inches deep. According to officers, he was lying in the street when they arrived. Police said the victim was able to speak by the time the ambulance carried him away.

“When he left here he was talking and he seemed to be stable,” said Officer DJ Graham of the Medford Police Department.

According to authorities, the victim underwent surgery at an area hospital and is expected to live.

Police have not released the relationship between the suspect and victim.
