Trees Fall on Prospect Home

The Cox family have a lot to be thankful for this weekend.

“It’s definitely a disaster but we’ll work through it though,” said Jordan Paudios.

Today the family salvaged what they could after he says on Saturday, three 100 foot tall white fir trees up-rooted together due to powerful winds and came crashing down, smack dab in the middle of their home.

“These trees are hundreds of years old and at any time, any of them could come down, ” said Steve Cox.

But just moments before, Cox’s son Jordan had left the home for a quick grocery run when he heard a large noise.

“I thought it was some sort of thunder or something, I look over and there’s a tree in my house. It just really blew me away, ” said Paudios.

Jordan ran back and saw smoke coming from the back of the house.

“I ran to the backyard and that downed power line was down and I didn’t even think about it being hot. And I jumped and skipped across it and ran into the garage to turn the breakers off.”

Fire crews from Prospect quickly responded making sure the live wires wouldn’t cause any further damage. Tonight the family says they’re grateful no one was hurt, especially the two young children who also live in the home.

“They run around the house and up and down the stairs and now that tree is laying right on the stairs. If one of them was right there when the tree came down it would have been tragic.”
