Zumba class raises funds, awareness for local sex trafficking victims

ZUMBA PICMedford, Ore. — A”Stomp Out Trafficking” zumba class brought in thousands of dollars to help fight sex trafficking in the Rogue Valley. January is human trafficking awareness month, and to help raise funds, over 100 people gathered at Grace Christian school for a 90 minute zumba class.

Each participant gathered pledges before the event, and the money raised will go directly to Redemption Ridge’s safe home project, the Grace House.

Monique Rush, owner of Inspire Studio in Medford, said she was approached by staff from Redemption Ridgem who asked if the studio might be interesting in doing a fundraiser.

“They told us more about it, and we didn’t know that the problem was so bad in the Rogue Valley, and so we just felt really passionate about helping,” Rush said.

The group hoped to raised between $7,500 and $10,000.
