Preschool For All; But How?

Days before the president outlines his objectives in his state of the union address, a group with close ties to the White House released their proposal to create universal preschool for every child in the U.S.

Southern Oregon Head Start Director Nancy Nordyke says she was excited to ehar that more focus would fall on early education. That’s because studies have show adapting you children to the process and life of school before they get there helps. Not just peer to peer interaction but taking direction from an instructor and so on.

More than one thousand kids in Josephine and Jackson County are part of the Head Start Program but there are hundreds more on a waiting list and possibly even more who aren’t aware of the program. There are also restrictions to who qualifies for the program as families have to be below a certain income to partake. Educators are excited to hear about universal preschool proposal but funding the program is worrisome.

Below is a link to the proposal from the Center for American Progress.
