Governor of California asks HUD for help with homeless crisis

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KPGE) – California’s governor has written a letter to Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson requesting help solving the problem of homelessness in the state.

Gavin Newsom said in his letter that he wants to continue conversations about various initiatives.

Newsom recently released his budget proposal for the upcoming year. It calls for earmarking $1 billion to combat the issue.

The governor’s plan focuses on offering tents and trailers as immediate solutions.
