Medford Police find shell casing on ‘shots fired’ call

Medford, Ore. — A call of shots fired sent several Medford police units to a Medford neighborhood. Around 9 PM Thursday night, residents reported hearing two gunshots. When officers arrived, they only found one shell casing.

Residents tell NBC5 News this is the second shooting they say they’ve heard in the last month. Police can’t confirm that information, but say it’s a neighborhood they keep an eye on.

“This is an area where we’ve had some concern with drug activity,” Corporal Ernie Whiteman Jr. said. “We focus our patrols down here, and we’re going to conduct extra patrols.”

Officers said there’s no evidence to indicate the person who fired the shot was aiming at anyone. The investigation is ongoing.
